From late May, wind turbine and tower components will be taken by truck from GeelongPort to the project site near Rokewood. Depending on which component is being moved, trucks can travel along one of 3 possible routes through Geelong. See the below map for more information.
Due to their size and speed, the trucks have potential to impact traffic. To minimise this, they will leave GeelongPort very early in the morning to avoid peak traffic. Trucks will be escorted by safety vehicles and we do not expect any road closures will be required.

Community Infrastructure Projects – Pedestrian Refuges (Rokewood & Teesdale)
Monday 18th November 2024
Over the past few years, the Golden Plains Wind Farm team have worked closely with community and stakeholders to continue to identify opportunities to share the benefits of the project with the broader public. These collaborations have not only led to the delivery of the Community Benefits Scheme (comprised of Community Energy Program, Near Neighbour Financial Incentive, Landscaping Program) but have seen additional community projects funded, such as the amenity block refurbishment in Rokewood.
Commencing in November, two additional community projects will be undertaken in partnership with Golden Plains Shire Council. In a significant investment for the communities, two pedestrian refuge points – located at Rokewood and Teesdale – are being upgraded. Works will provide key community infrastructure for residents, improving the quality of road / crossing conditions and providing additional safety for the community.
To enable the delivery of these projects, traffic management will be in place in Rokewood and Teesdale throughout November. Please see the following for a more detailed description of the changed traffic conditions.
When will traffic management be in place?
We expect that the impact to local traffic will occur for a three-week period for each crossing commencing from Monday 25 November for Rokewood and early January 2025 for Teesdale. Works will be conducted from approximately 7am – 5pm daily during this time.
Which roads will be affected?
The roads that will see changed traffic conditions are:
- Ferrars Street (Rokewood)
- Bannockburn-Shelford Road (Teesdale)
How will these works affect my use of the roads?
Ferrars Street (Rokewood) and Bannockburn-Shelford Road (Teesdale) will have traffic management in place, and a single lane will be closed to allow the installation of the pedestrian crossings. This is likely to lead to increased travel times and some minor delays.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during these works.
